Toni Freixa Challenges Madrid and Predicts a Heart-Stopping Champions Final: 'They Die'

The Former Barça Executive Launches a Provocation Against the Merengue Team in the Champions League

This season the Champions League format has changed and we already know there won't be more draws. The path to the Allianz final is set and that leaves room for speculation. For example, the fact that Real Madrid and Barça wouldn't face each other until that last match.

Something that seems to please some culés like Toni Freixa, who has already referred to that possibility on more than one occasion. He has done so again after learning of the whites' advancement to the quarterfinals. He is taking it for granted that Barça will reach the final without any doubts.

"I see Barcelona as superior to Borussia Dortmund" he assured regarding the next round for them. But not only that, he also sees them above "whoever comes next." Either Inter Milan or Bayern would be the opponent in the semis, whom he had no qualms about belittling.

But he went a step further as he also saw Real Madrid eliminating Arsenal and even reaching the final. Although there he pointed out that "they're scared to death of facing Barcelona." He also added that "they see the culé crest and start trembling," some controversial statements.

It is a demonstration of arrogance by a former director of the blaugrana entity. Not only because he sees them reaching the Champions League final without major problems. But because he belittles all their rivals, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid Don't Engage in Toni Freixa's Games, Despite the Culé's Provocations

Toni Freixa has already spoken on more than one occasion about a possible final against Real Madrid and is eager for it. However, from the merengue side, they haven't engaged in that game as they know there's a long way to go. Especially since the quarterfinals still have to be played.

The truth is that at Bernabéu they have gained confidence after eliminating Manchester City and Atlético. Two of the favorites have already fallen to the whites despite not having the advantage. Or so many claimed while trying to bury Ancelotti's team.

But they don't want to look beyond Arsenal, which is the opponent they have to face in the next round. Unlike Freixa, they don't even see themselves in the semifinals, where they will also have another hurdle. They want to go step by step through the rounds before seeing themselves competing for the title at the Allianz Arena in two months.
