UEFA's financial distribution for the 2025-26 Champions League: a windfall of millions

The unbelievable amount of money UEFA will distribute during this edition of the Champions League

After a long wait, the Champions League is back with its draw for the league phase. An event where 36 teams will compete for the highest European glory. While winning the Champions League is a sporting achievement, it's also a major financial accomplishment, with the champion earning around €110 million.

One of the main attractions this tournament has always had, in addition to its footballing level, is the financial distribution. For this season's edition, UEFA will give €18.6 million to all teams just for participating. In the league phase, which consists of 8 matches instead of 6 as in the past, victories will bring €2.1 million.

Drawing will also bring rewards, with this result giving €700,000 to both teams. In addition, finishing as the best team in the entire league phase will grant a €9.9 million reward. This means that if Real Madrid manages to finish this phase with a perfect record of victories, the club will receive €45.3 million.

Uefa rewards

As the greatest champion in Champions League history, Real Madrid is aware of what it takes to win this trophy. Securing the most desired club title in Europe not only brings prestige but also significant rewards. That's why, after the signings made in the summer, the club will seek to win another Champions League.

After the distribution once the league phase ends, UEFA will give €11 million for playing in the round of 16. It should be remembered that, since last season, before the round of 16 there is a play-off phase that doesn't provide any reward. Reaching the quarterfinals will grant €12.5 million to all clubs that reach this stage.

The semifinals will bring €15 million and reaching the grand final, which will be held in Budapest, will grant €18.5 million. If the club wins the championship, the final reward will be €6.5 million. However, as we know at Defensa Central, UEFA will still have €853 million in television rights to distribute among all teams.

The importance of winning the Champions League

By adding up the distribution provided by UEFA, the club that manages to win the Champions League will earn €109.5 million. An impressive amount that proves how important it is to be the champion of Europe. Although several clubs will fight to win this title, Real Madrid is clearly the big favorite to reclaim its European throne.
