Alexander-arnold's Controversial Video, He Hasn't Signed for Real Madrid Yet
The English player was exposed in a defensive action against Manchester City.
Trent Alexander-Arnoldremains a target for Real Madrid. The Liverpool footballer is still waiting to know what decision will be made regarding his future. Meanwhile, his team leads the Premier League after their recent victory at the Etihad against Manchester City (0-2) last weekend.
However, not everything has been positive for the English full-back in the match against the "Cityzens". One of the most criticized aspects of his game is his defensive weakness, which has caused numerous criticisms toward Alexander-Arnold in recent months.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and His Defensive Shortcomings
In the match against Manchester City, Alexander-Arnold became the most dribbled past player in a Premier League game. In fact, since those stats began being recorded in the 2015/16 season, he is the player with the worst stats, surpassed eleven times.
The Liverpool full-back, linked to Real Madrid, broke the record he had set earlier this season. In the first leg against Manchester City, he was also dribbled past six times.
Harsh Criticisms of Trent Alexander-Arnold
Despite the victory, Alexander-Arnold was in the spotlight for his defensive ability. Steve Nicol, for example, was blunt with the Liverpool full-back.
"All that propaganda we were hearing about him improving in defense is just that, propaganda. He was terrible, very bad. I think he would've been substituted in stoppage time even if he hadn't taken a hit", he stated.
"I don't think it's a lack of effort, he's just a fish out of water, he doesn't know what to do. He's had Konaté, Matip, Van Dijk to cover him, but when he's isolated, my God, you need to close your eyes and pray", commented Steve Nicol.
Another former Liverpool footballer, Ryan Babel, also showed his criticism toward Alexander-Arnold after his match.

"I love Trent, but when you're faced for the third time, you should kick his butt", he stated emphatically.
At Real Madrid, they are aware that the player has certain defensive shortcomings, but his signing also means boosting the attack. However, the English footballer can improve on his weaker aspects after his arrival at the white team.
