Wirtz to Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen 'pays' for it with Real Madrid, imminent

One of the most sought-after players during this summer transfer window is Florian Wirtz. Having been close to leaving Bayer Leverkusen last summer, Wirtz made the decision to stay one more year. Now, after this season, Wirtz is preparing to join Liverpool and leave Leverkusen without its star player.

Given the significant loss the German squad will suffer, it has shown interest in two Real Madrid players. Nico Paz is the first of them, with the young Argentine impressing everyone with his level at Como. Although Real Madrid has a buy-back option, it hasn't exercised it, leaving the door open for a possible departure.

However, if Leverkusen can't sign Nico Paz, the second player it is interested in is Arda Güler. A much more complicated but not impossible option for a squad that is looking for its key player for next season.

Bayer Leverkusen's interests

Receiving more than €100 million ($100 million) for Wirtz's transfer, Bayer Leverkusen has the capital to sign an important player. However, with the intention of taking care of its finances, Bayer doesn't want to waste its money. That's why, in the search for a quality player, Bayer has set its sights on Real Madrid.

Nico Paz, just 20 years old, has shown how ready he is to perform in a more prestigious team. In this specific case, Real Madrid could exercise its €8 million ($8 million) buy-back option to proceed with Bayer's operation.

Even so, Xabi Alonso's intention is to keep Nico to test him during the preseason. A decision that could end up affecting the plans Bayer has for this transfer window.

The danger from Real Madrid

Although both Nico and especially Güler are in Real Madrid's plans, the departure of either of them hasn't been ruled out. Given Bayer Leverkusen's interest, Real Madrid already has an interested club with which it also has an excellent relationship.
