Xabi Alonso gives the OK to Real Madrid's plan B for the goalkeeper position

Xabi Alonso and the management are clear that they can sign the Plan B for the goalkeeping position for an affordable amount

At Real Madrid they want to make sure they have absolutely everything covered in case of any last-minute eventuality. In this sense, they seem quite confident in being able to have a replacement in case the Ukrainian goalkeeper Lunin leaves this summer. With this in mind, they have a 15 million euro option to replace the merengue goalkeeper with another player with a lot of potential.

In this case, we are referring to Joan García, goalkeeper of the Espanyol de Barcelona team. This goalkeeper showed many things throughout this season and, by far, seems to be the club's main option if needed. 15 million euros would be the amount to pay for his clause in case the Catalan team is relegated to the second division.

While this is an opportunity that Real Madrid could take advantage of despite the fans, the reality is that, being a business, everything counts. This could be the step this goalkeeper needs to become a much more significant element in a Real Madrid on the verge of change.

An economic option

There is no doubt that the presence of this footballer has completely changed the Espanyol team in terms of defense and goalkeeping. He has already been rumored for some time to join Real Madrid's squad as a strong element in the goal.

With just 15 million euros, in case the Catalan team is relegated, being a very real possibility, it's a market bargain. Right now they are in 17th position, just two points behind Leganés, with one match still to be played.

This could be a situation that triggers the departure of this goalkeeper to a much more powerful institution than the Barcelona club.

We'll see what happens

This is subject to the player and his team being relegated to the second division to avoid paying exaggerated amounts. However, if otherwise, they would have to pay between 25 and 30 million euros, which is still not unreasonable. A decision that Florentino will have to face in due course.
