Xabi Alonso has an impossible mission: Wirtz's signing hasn't been canceled yet
The new Merengue coach faces an ordeal suited to his level
One of the signings that Xabi Alonso has repeatedly requested in the Valdebebas offices, even though he hasn't succeeded in doing so, is Florian Wirtz. The Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder would be willing to leave BayArena during the summer 2025 transfer window, but Real Madrid still haven't submitted their bid.
Other teams such as Bayern Munich or Liverpool have done so in truly effective ways, although the debate between the Bavarian club and the Red squad was easily solved days ago. Liverpool, barring a last-minute surprise, would be the team to enjoy Florian Wirtz's talent in the coming seasons.

Xabi Alonso once again presents the possibility of signing the '10' werkself in light of the clear approaches from the upper echelons of Anfield Road. But the board led by Florentino Pérez has made it clear to the current Madrid coach that the main problem with that signing, at least for the white club, remains.
The information published by "OKDiario" indicates that Real Madrid are reluctant to get involved in the transfer of Florian Wirtz due to the extremely high financial costs of the operation. Indeed, the top executives led by Fernando Carro would have set a starting price at €120 million ($130 million), an amount that Real Madrid don't intend to pay.
it's the last and biggest obstacle
The same would happen with the salaries promised to the player by clubs such as Liverpool, who are now leading in this "case", or Bayern Munich. The white treasury can't offer much more money than the rest of the European football elite. However, they would place the player among those destined to succeed in every sense, always a candidate to win the Champions League.
Given the situation, Xabi Alonso has very little time to accomplish a mission that seems almost impossible: Convincing Florian Wirtz to give up the money. The Basque coach knows that the Madrid proposals will be limited, especially compared to those sent from England. The emotional factor and the desire to keep competing together is the best asset available to the former Bayer Leverkusen coach.

It remains to be seen whether Florian Wirtz will respond to the challenge that Xabi Alonso would have prepared in that regard. The '10' werkself would also be aware of his estimated salary if he were to sign for Real Madrid... but the offer crafted by Liverpool has made an excellent impression on his personal and professional circle.
Everything seems to be against Real Madrid in this signing, whose only redeemable link is through Xabi Alonso. Precisely in the new white coach could lie the turning point for Florian Wirtz, snubbing Liverpool at the last minute and moving closer to Santiago Bernabéu locker room.
