Xabi Alonso smiles, after Huijsen and Alexander-Arnold another defender signs and will make history

Real Madrid has sealed Jesús Fortea's contract renewal until 2029. He is considered by many to be Carvajal's heir

Real Madrid keeps working with a vision for the future. After finalizing the signings of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, they've now secured Jesús Fortea, one of the most promising talents from the academy.

The white club has reached an agreement with the young full-back to extend his contract until 2029. It was set to end in 2026, so this renewal comes just before entering his final year.

The move confirms Madrid's commitment to its academy. Especially to a footballer who's already seen as Dani Carvajal's natural heir.

Jesús Fortea, a firm bet for the future

Fortea is 18 years old and has been a key piece in Álvaro Arbeloa's Juvenil A. His performance has convinced everyone in Valdebebas. So much so that he's expected to make a direct jump to Castilla in Primera Federación next season.

The right-back has already trained with the first team on several occasions. Although he hasn't debuted yet, Carlo Ancelotti valued him. Now, with Xabi Alonso in charge, his outlook could improve.

The new coach's trust, along with Arbeloa's, has been essential in the player's decision to renew. Both figures have played a key role in keeping Fortea in white.

Fortea turned down offers to stay in white

The young Valencian hasn't gone unnoticed. He had offers from other teams to move on this summer. Como, for example, already wanted him in January. But Madrid has moved quickly to avoid surprises.

With this renewal, the club shuts the door to any escape attempts. It reinforces its message: homegrown talent is also a priority.

Additionally, Fortea could be in the plans to travel to the 2025 Club World Cup with the first team. Nothing's confirmed yet, but the club doesn't rule out his presence if he keeps progressing.

Real Madrid secures a defender who's aiming high. The renewal of Jesús Fortea until 2029 not only strengthens the academy project, but also secures a key position with the future in mind.

Xabi Alonso smiles: he has another young defender with white DNA ready to make the leap.
