Xabi Alonso speaks out about Rodrygo's future, issues a warning: 'I want...'

Real Madrid's coach answered questions from the media ahead of the Real Madrid-Osasuna match

One of the soap operas that Real Madrid has experienced during most of the 2025 summer transfer window has starred Rodrygo Goes. The possibility that the "11" verdeamarelowill leave Santiago Bernabéu locker room is on the table, an operation that the board would approve... as long as the previously set financial requirements are met.

The main asset that the Osasco striker could have to regain the prominence he has lost for more than three months is Xabi Alonso. The Tolosa coach, during the press conference prior to the league debut at the Madrid coliseum, the Real Madrid-Osasuna match, has replied regarding the situation of the Carioca striker.

Xabi Alonso makes it clear that  "I've seen Rodrygo doing well" during the training sessions held these weeks at the Valdebebas Sports City. Although the South American footballer arrived late, the Madrid coach is candid: "I count on everyone, I want everyone to be at one hundred percent. That's what matters to me", Xabi Alonso states in this regard.

It still seems far too soon to assert which players have a place and which footballers will play a much more secondary role with the reorganization carried out by the new coaching staff. For now, Xabi Alonso points out, the message is the same for everyone: equal opportunities to be on the field.

Complicated situation

Despite these words offered in the press conference prior to Real Madrid-Osasuna, the situation of the Madrid footballer is not the best right now. Indeed, the loss of prominence at the end of last season has extended during the Club World Cup: he only played 93 minutes in that competition.

It seems clear that Xabi Alonso doesn't consider Rodrygo Goes as one of the undisputed starters in his revamped starting line-up. Indeed, the "11" was also not chosen as one of the starting players to face WSG Tirol, the friendly played in Innsbruck almost a week ago.

Nevertheless, the Madrid coach may not have lost faith in the recovery of the South American striker. Rodrygo Goes's entourage repeatedly states that the player doesn't wish to leave, a desire that fits perfectly with Xabi Alonso's words at the press conference:  "I count on everyone".

Among them is Rodrygo Goes himself. It remains to be seen what role the Tolosa coach has reserved for his Brazilian protégé after this comment at the press conference... Although practically no one is betting on the South American forward starting in the league debut that will take place in just over 24 hours.
