Zubimendi breaks his silence, speaks about his transfer to Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso

The Spanish midfielder was asked about his future in his latest interview

Martín Zubimendi has given an interview to Radio Nacional de España from the Spanish national team's training camp. The Basque footballer is part of Luis de la Fuente's squad for the final round of the Nations League.

In that interview, Martín Zubimendi was asked about his future at Real Sociedad. "Of course there are options, but it's true that it seems like it's going to be a different, long summer and I don't know how it's going to end. I think right now it's not my priority, I'm here with the national team, which I already think is quite demanding in itself", he said.

"It's an example of what surrounds soccer. Many times I wake up in the morning and read things I didn't know I'd done. That was a clear example", explained a Martín Zubimendi who has recently been linked with Arsenal.

A message for Xabi Alonso that interests Madridists

"I've always said he was my idol and that for me it was a stroke of luck to have been able to train under him with the reserves in a very important year. The following season I joined the first team and, well, I don't like to talk about those hypotheticals, I prefer to talk about the present, because I also think it would be disrespectful to answer from the national team camp and before facing such an important competition", he said.

Additionally, the Basque footballer did elaborate further to talk about Imanol Alguacil and how important he has been for him.

"I'm one of those people who can talk about Imanol's process, it's been eight years since I made my debut with him in Segunda B. The excitement he's caused in Gipuzkoa and Donostia among the people has been a huge change. They've gotten hooked, not just because of results, but also because they felt identified, the play style was very attractive", he explained.

"The legacy he can leave will be the work, sometimes on the edge or a little more but it's for our own good. I'm very grateful to him because what I've improved with him is unbelievable", concluded Martín Zubimendi.
