Zubimendi Owes One to Mbappé, Real Madrid Rules out the Only Plan B Transfer
Real Madrid's recent decision to allow Zubimendi's arrival to the team
One of the positions Real Madrid is looking to strengthen as soon as possible is the midfield. Kroos's retirement significantly affected a team that aims to dominate from this position again. To achieve this goal, the club had shown interest in Zubimendi and Vitinha, with the Portuguese being their plan B.
However, the relationship between Real Madrid and PSG is completely ruined after Mbappé's transfer. The Parisian club is not interested in letting go of one of its stars. Due to this, Martín Zubimendi has remained the only option for Real Madrid's midfield.
Remaining indebted to Mbappé, everything points to the Spaniard getting closer to a move to Santiago Bernabéu. Without any competitors, Vitinha's exclusion has greatly benefited Zubimendi.
Mbappé's consequences
At 25 years old, Zubimendi is one of today's best midfielders. While Real Madrid has maintained interest in his services, the team continued to observe more players. One of the reasons behind this is the clause the Spaniard has, which would see him leave for 60 million euros.
Even though this amount is affordable for the team, Vitinha's option was strongly considered for several months. At 24 years old and having played 1,552 minutes this season, the Portuguese had the skill Real Madrid was looking for. Ending his contract at the same time as Martín Zubimendi, until 2027, Mbappé's transfer determined this operation.
In light of this, Real Madrid has no other player than Zubimendi to strengthen their midfield for the next season. Despite other clubs' interest in the Spaniard, the merengue team is fully focused on succeeding with this transfer. A significant blow to other clubs that could have strengthened very well with this player.
The only real option
After his great performances with Real Sociedad and the Spanish National Team, Zubimendi is ready to dazzle Santiago Bernabéu. Although his transfer would have to wait until next summer, the Spaniard is determined to become a merengue.
