The $15M offer that changes everything, Xabi asks Florentino to reject it
The future of a Real Madrid youth academy player depends on the decision Florentino Pérez makes
For this summer transfer window, Real Madrid still has to make some departures. Not counting the players whose contracts have ended, some youth academy players have left on loan to other clubs. However, as we know at Defensa Central, Sunderland has remained firm in its intentions to sign Gonzalo García.
By offering €15 million plus another €5 million in add-ons, Sunderland is looking to bring in the youth academy product. After his breakthrough at the Club World Cup, the British team considers Gonzalo a transfer that would be key. In order to convince Real Madrid, Sunderland would guarantee the club 30% of a future sale.
In addition, Real Madrid would also have a buy-back option of €30 million for the next 2 seasons. A tempting offer that has been rejected by Xabi Alonso. The coach has informed Florentino Pérez of his request to ignore this offer.
A key player for Xabi Alonso
Trained in Real Madrid's youth academy since 2014, Gonzalo García played for all the club's categories. The summer of 2023 saw his desired promotion to Castilla, a category where he set several records. During his time at Castilla, Gonzalo managed to polish several of the qualities that he would later go on to show at the Club World Cup.

Even though Mbappé and Endrick were ahead of him, neither was available for the first matches of the World Cup. Gonzalo took advantage of this to earn Xabi's trust. Despite being 21 years old, Gonzalo was one of the top scorers of the tournament with 4 goals.
In addition to his great goal-scoring instinct, Gonzalo showed his commitment to helping in various areas of the field. His pressing on opponents was, at the very least, excellent. As a player fully committed to the team, Xabi isn't looking to say goodbye to him anytime soon.
Florentino Pérez's decision
Even with the request made by Xabi, Gonzalo's stay depends on Florentino Pérez. The youth academy product will have to fight for minutes against Mbappé and Endrick. This is a situation that he has made clear doesn't worry him, but it has been taken into account.
