Agreement for Saliba: the center-back is about to sign

The recent offer that would prevent William Saliba from signing for Real Madrid

One of Real Madrid's main objectives to strengthen its backline is Frenchman William Saliba. A center-back for Arsenal, the club considers him a necessary player to finally solidify its defense. However, as we know at Defensa Central, Arsenal is close to finalizing a 5-season contract renewal with the Frenchman.

This would clearly leave Real Madrid with no options to count on one of the best center-backs in the Premier League. Arsenal, aware of the interest from the white club and other teams, is looking to secure its player's future as soon as possible. Even so, nothing has been signed yet regarding the new agreement from the London team.

Real Madrid, for now, is keeping a very close eye on the situation with Saliba. His current contract runs until the summer of 2027, with two seasons still remaining (as of now). If the renewal doesn't go through, the Frenchman could reach the summer of 2026 with one year left on his contract, which would be a great opportunity for Real Madrid.

Shielding its leader

At 24 years old, William Saliba is one of the most important players for Arsenal. Signed in 2019, the Frenchman went through multiple loans before earning a place in the English team. Benefiting from Mikel Arteta's tactics and style, Saliba has managed to develop his game greatly over the years.

In addition to his great height, 6 ft. 3.6 in. (1.92 meters), Saliba stands out for his defensive solidity, ball distribution, and leadership. The latter has made him one of the key figures at Arsenal for several seasons now. While Saliba is the perfect center-back for Real Madrid, Arsenal isn't interested in allowing its star to leave.

Despite his recent injury, which will keep him out for at least three weeks, Saliba remains a pillar for Arsenal. That's why the renewal planned by the English club is for five long seasons. With everything ready to sign the new agreement, Real Madrid has little time left to try to intervene in this operation.

The fight against Arsenal

Even if Saliba doesn't renew his contract, his signing wouldn't come at an affordable price for Real Madrid. According to Transfermarkt, the French center-back's market value is 80 million euros. An important amount for a player who, despite his youth, is already established as one of the best in his position.
