Alaba, relegated to midfielder, breaks his silence about his new position

The footballer was one of the most acclaimed at Tivoli Stadion by Austrian fans

David Alaba had minutes during Real Madrid's visit to his home country. After completing some good training sessions, Xabi Alonso decided to give him an opportunity in the second half. The player, just as he did in the match at Valdebebas against CD Leganés, returned to that holding midfielder position he already knew from his time at Bayern Munich.

"I'm happy to play in my country, the atmosphere was good too. I'm feeling much better, I'm almost at one hundred percent (100%). I've trained very hard to feel good", said David Alaba to Victorio Calero on Real Madrid TV.

David Alaba returned to the midfield

It seems that Xabi Alonso doesn't count on David Alaba for the center of defense. The Basque coach has placed the player as a holding midfielder in the two tests he has had before starting the new campaign.

David Alaba, just as he did a few years ago at Bayern Munich, returned to the holding midfielder role. "It's different, that's clear, it's not my position but I know it from before, from many years ago", the player said.

He assesses Real Madrid's fitness level

To end the short interview, David Alaba was asked about Real Madrid's fitness level before the start of the season. His message was very positive and leaves Madridists eager to see what happens in the first LaLiga match.

"We're doing very well one week before the start. We have time to prepare well for the first match", concluded David Alaba on the Real Madrid TV microphone.

The white team will make its debut in LaLiga against CA Osasuna next Tuesday, August 19 at Santiago Bernabéu. Seven years later, Real Madrid will have the opportunity to play the first match of the league calendar at home.

As for David Alaba, it would be quite unusual to see the Austrian player on the field. The footballer knows that this is his last year at the club and that his role, barring a disaster, will be marginal. He accepts it, although he will fight to climb up in Xabi Alonso's plans.
