Antón Meana warns Laporta, Joan García's situation isn't over: 'They're not going to buy him...
The journalist from Cadena SER points out what could happen with Espanyol's goalkeeper signing
Joan García's signing is one of the most recent controversies at FC Barcelona. The blaugrana team hasn't participated in the Club World Cup, but it has managed to draw attention at key moments through its activity in the transfer market. The case of the former Espanyol goalkeeper is one of the most recent.
The complex financial situation at FC Barcelona may also have taken its toll in that regard, making it truly difficult to take on new signings or simply try to register new footballers. Antón Meana spoke on that matter on Cadena SER, warning that in the Catalan capital, people are experiencing a very similar situation to what happened last season.

"I think that after what happened with the Nico Williams case and with Athletic Club de Bilbao's visit to LaLiga... I think people will really check that the injury is four months long", said the Cadena SER journalist, opening a truly striking debate. Now Ter Stegen, a player who had completely lost his status as an undisputed starter, has a serious ailment.
"I think they're not going to accept any medical report from Barça anymore", warned Antón Meana regarding that injury suffered by Barça's number '1'. For the veteran journalist, it's still curious that "right now it's four months, which is what's needed to register Joan García" according to the rules of the top national competition.
Exposes the dilemma
Lluís Flaquer, also a journalist at Cadena SER, recalled the case of Andreas Christensen: "people also doubted, how was he going to be out for four months... well, in the end he was out for more than four months", which would mean that the player truly needed a long recovery time. He also asked Antón Meana directly: "Do you think that Ter Stegen, with everything that's happening and with what the club is going through, is going to go along with that?".
"We're not talking about faking here, what we're saying is that Barça has a problem with four goalkeepers and a registration problem" after Joan García's signing. Precisely in that delicate context, Marc-André ter Stegen gets injured "and from minute one it's four months. It's not two and a half, it's not three, nor three and a half", said Antón Meana, making his doubts about the extremely quick diagnosis clear.

Above all because it fits perfectly with the minimum time needed to 'deactivate' ter Stegen's registration and be able to register Joan García for the next soccer season. "The first thing people said was 'Ter Stegen is going to have surgery, four months, Joan García can be registered'". Antón Meana argues that, "just as people went to LaLiga to check on Nico Williams, there could be an independent doctor to look at this".
The reality is that in LaLiga, as another Cadena SER journalist later revealed, there is an independent medical commission that reviews all injury reports from clubs. "A commission that at the time no club reviewed," added Antón Meana about ter Stegen's injury, an ailment that comes at the right time to register Joan García.
