The game between Real Madrid and Mallorca had an ugly encounter between Raúl Asencio and Pablo Maffeo. In an intense exchange of words, the Mallorca winger made serious accusations against the central defender. After this, Asencio chose to remain silent until a post he made on social media.

"We're in the final!" were the words of the central defender, who also shared several images of the Meringue victory. Through this comment, Asencio made it clear that Pablo Maffeo's words haven't affected him. Happy with the victory, the central defender is completely focused on the grand final of the Spanish Supercopa.

"First step taken, now to recover and prepare to give it our all in El Clásico on Sunday!" he added. These last words reflect his calmness after his encounter with Maffeo and determination to lift another title with the team after the Intercontinental Cup.

Asencio's mentality

Having trained in Real Madrid's youth academy since 2017, Asencio got his chance with the first team this season. Faced with injuries that affected the defense, the 21-year-old central defender achieved a debut that secured his continuity in the team.  While Asencio has stood out for his skills with the ball, he has also done so with his mentality.

This was demonstrated after the recent match against Mallorca, where he managed to keep Pablo Maffeo's accusations at bay. His words on social media have only confirmed that, despite this incident, Asencio wasn't affected at all by it.

Completely focused on the final of the Spanish Super Cup, Asencio has demonstrated the strength of the entire youth academy. Trained to shine in each and every aspect of this sport, the young academy player has shown greater maturity than Pablo Maffeo.

The difference between the two

While Maffeo prefers to argue and fight against all his rivals, Asencio remains focused on the match. This marks the great difference that exists between a player who will never shine in this sport and one who has everything to be one of the greats.
