The Asencio case takes a turn: One of the victims withdraws the complaint
The legal process of the Canary Islands center-back undergoes a very striking change
The most concerning issue that Real Madrid currently has, related to one of the footballers in its first team, is the process involving Raúl Asencio. The Canarian center-back is accused of an alleged crime of disclosure of secrets due to the distribution of intimate videos that three of his former teammates from La Fábrica recorded without permission.
The accusation against the player was supported by complaints from the two victims. However, one of them, according to information revealed tonight on Cadena COPE, has reportedly decided to forgive the player. In the Spanish legal system, this action eliminates all legal action against the accused.

For this reason, Raúl Asencio, at this moment, would only have the trial pending against the underage victim, who has not yet spoken out or forgiven the Madrid footballer. "I accept the apologies freely and voluntarily and express my forgiveness, I do not want him to be criminally punished", states the letter from the adult victim regarding her forgiveness.
Meanwhile, Raúl Asencio has acknowledged on multiple occasions that he acted wrongly, making sure to repair the damage caused by his actions. "I acknowledge that I made a mistake, I want to apologize expressly and unconditionally", states the letter from Raúl Asencio attached to this statement in which the adult victim forgives the footballer.
Important decision
Given these circumstances, Raúl Asencio sees how one of the two complaints he faced in this case is rendered ineffective. As Ángel García recalls on Cadena COPE, forgiveness in the crime of disclosure of secrets "does sever criminal action" as established in Article 201.3 of the Penal Code. This is one of the few cases in which forgiveness effectively eliminates judicial actions and criminal penalties.
This is why this action is so important: "as if the accusation by this victim had never existed", warns Ángel García. Despite the forgiveness offered to the Real Madrid footballer, which exempts him only from this accusation, the adult victim continues the process against the other three investigated individuals.

"Obviously, Raúl Asencio still faces the other accusation, that of the underage victim who is 16 years old", recalls the COPE journalist. "For now, it is still ongoing" because the next step "if everything remains this way" is the "oral trial" in which the accused must answer for the actions attributed to them.
This striking change in the "Asencio case" shows that the footballer has done everything possible, as stated in several statements following the forgiveness, to make amends for the damage. Raúl Asencio's defense is closely following all developments in the case in the preparation of its arguments for the upcoming oral hearing.
