Barça's Ugly Gesture Toward a Betis Ball Boy Ended Up 'Paying' for It
The Barça players disrespect a Betis ball boy but it backfires on them
Barcelona arrived at Benito Villamarín thinking that they were going to achieve a convincing victory against Betis. They had just beaten Mallorca and Real Madrid had lost at San Mamés against Athletic. In addition, the Betis was draggin a bad dynamic in game and results.
Perhaps that's why they were so relaxed in the warm-up , to the point that they allowed themselves to tease a ball boy. It all started when they were supposed to leave the field after training. A kid started to pick up the balls and bumped into Raphinha and Szczęsny.
The Brazilian was the first to object to having one of the balls taken away from him as he was shooting at goal. He had four and it seems that they weren't enough; he didn't want to be left without any. So much so that he exchanged a few words with the ball boy, urging him to leave.
But the worst came when Barcelona's substitute goalkeeper, Szczęsny , began to tease him in a bad way. He threatened to give him the ball to take it away from him when the youngster was going to take it. He did it a second time, throwing him to the ground from behind , while Gerard Martín laughed at the 'joke'.
An ugly gesture that Barça ended up paying for in the end
The ugly gesture of the Barça players seems far from the values they then try to proclaim. Especially if we take into account that we are talking about a player who was at La Masia last season. But especially because Raphinha is one of the captains.
However, the match was responsible for returning the favor in the form of karma with the final result. It was thanks to Assane Diao's goal in stoppage time that made it 2-2 . At that moment, they were certainly not in the mood to laugh at the ball boy.
In fact, the faces of the Barça players at the end of the match make it clear that they were not in the mood to party. The gesture toward the young Betis player with that draw cost them dearly. A lack of respect that, however, hasn't led to a media campaign as it has with footballers from other teams.
