Bayer Leverkusen makes a desperate call to Real Madrid to stop the signing

The German team reestablishes contact with the Merengue bosses to probe their availability

One of the signings that the European soccer elite is currently disputing belongs to a Bundesliga club. The figure of Florian Wirtz has become one of the most valued and desired transfers by multiple 'big' teams from the Old Continent, but only three teams are true candidates. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Manchester City have been permanently linked to the '10' werkself.

The high economic demands necessary to force the team change have considerably distanced Real Madrid, allowing Bayern Munich and Manchester City to approach verbal agreements. Those links in Florian Wirtz's environment, nevertheless, leave Bayern Munich as the most advanced team in the negotiations... because they offer a higher salary than the attempts made by the sky blue squad.

Such a disposition in Florian Wirtz's future doesn't please the bosses led by Fernando Carro. The board of Bayer Leverkusen has a clear preference: they do not wish to strengthen one of their major rivals in the Bundesliga. They would look more favorably on a move toward Real Madrid or Manchester City, teams they would only meet in the Champions League in a circumstantial and occasional manner.

In the offices of Säbener Straße, they are not unaware of that will of the werkself executives, showing a truly remarkable concern. Not only because of the hypothetical facilities of Real Madrid in case they attempt to sign Florian Wirtz, but also because of another transfer from the white club: Xabi Alonso.

The saga is not over

The possible arrival of the current Bayer Leverkusen coach is a move that raises doubts in the noble area of the Allianz Arena. According to the German magazine Kicker, in Bavaria, they fear that Xabi Alonso's incorporation into Real Madrid could change the dynamics of a transfer in which they showed a lot of trust. Right now, the white club could not afford the operation.

But one of the key footballers of Real Madrid is currently on the way out: Rodrygo Goes. The departure of the '11' verdeamarelo could offer the necessary economic resources to complete the signing, an alternative that Bayern Munich doesn't currently rule out. The possible arrival of Xabi Alonso would push the Osasco striker away from Santiago Bernabéu locker room.

In return, Real Madrid would want to fill the gap left by the South American footballer with a very similar but more versatile player in the midfield: Florian Wirtz himself. Bayern Munich is closely following the 'Xabi Alonso case', aware that the will of the Basque coach could be a defining factor in Florian Wirtz's future. Bayer Leverkusen, moreover, doesn't hide its reluctance toward the Bavarian signing of one of its top stars.

For this reason, they also hope, in a certain way, that the executives led by Florentino Pérez return to the 'race' to sign the German attacking midfielder. The reality is quite different, since the cost derived from that move seems too high for the white bosses... and the verbal agreements sealed by Florian Wirtz's environment are more reasons to abstain from this saga of the summer transfer market.
