Karim Benzema, currently at Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, has surprised the soccer world with some strong statements about his future. The former Real Madrid forward made it clear that retirement is not in his immediate plans.
"Retire after this season? No, nonsense. Who said that? I feel good", Benzema assured in a recent interview.
The French forward, 37 years old, stated that his physical condition allows him to continue competing at the highest level. According to him, he still has soccer in his soccer boots for four or five more years. This statement comes at a time when many speculated that this could be his last active season.
Benzema dreams of returning to Madrid
Besides denying the retirement rumors, Benzema mentioned his desire to return to Madrid in the future. Although he didn't specify if he plans to return as a player or in another role, he left the door open to maintaining a relationship with Real Madrid.
"Madrid will always be my home. I'd like to be related to the club in the future", the Frenchman stated.
