Bombshell: He arrives as a free agent to a Madrid rival in LaLiga 25/26, he didn't succeed at Bernabéu

A La Liga team is preparing to secure the signing of a former Madridist

The transfer market keeps moving forward and, little by little, important moves are starting to take place in LaLiga. Teams are trying to shape their squads, some with very top-level signings. That's what's about to happen with a former Madridist returning to Spain.

We're talking about Luka Jovic, the Serbian striker who couldn't establish himself at Real Madrid. He arrived after a good performance in the Bundesliga, but he didn't manage to fit in at Bernabéu. In fact, he wasn't the replacement for Benzema that they had signed him to be.

He ended up leaving through the back door and after spells at Fiorentina and Milan, he's now without a club. That has motivated Oviedo to go after his signing as one of the summer's biggest moves.  After securing Rondón, they now want Jovic to be their statement signing.

He would arrive as a free agent, which means no transfer fee but having to compete with other clubs. Cruz Azul had also positioned itself to secure his services. If Jovic wants to return to Spain, he could do so with Oviedo's return to Primera División.

Jovic hasn't returned to his top performances in recent years

During the 2018-2019 season, Jovic surprised everyone with his performance at Eintracht. He finished with 27 goals and 7 assists, which caught the attention of Real Madrid and led to his signing. But his time with the white team was far from repeating those performances.

3 goals and 5 assists in 51 matches was the Serbian striker's record, which didn't manage to convince. Although those numbers have improved somewhat in Italy, he hasn't convinced Milan. In fact, last season they left him off the Champions League squad list.

Jovic could have a good opportunity at Oviedo to fight again in LaLiga. He'll have important minutes to, at 27 years old, relaunch his career at a key moment. Especially because in 2026 he could be with Serbia playing in the World Cup, which takes place next summer, although they still have to qualify.
