Real Madrid's reaction to Betis's problem with Ceballos: 'We'll wait until...'

The club makes its stance clear regarding the transfer of the footballer from Utrera

Ceballos is one of the footballers Real Madrid currently has on the way out. Xabi Alonso hasn't fully trusted him during the Club World Cup, giving him few minutes. That seems to have been the final push for him to seek his departure this summer.

Betis, as usual, appears as the club that wants to have the Utrera native. They value his return, although they've always run into a major problem in making it happen. The issue is that they don't have enough money to cover the transfer and Ceballos's salary demands.

Real Madrid is willing to sell him, as long as a considerable offer comes in for him. That's why people at Valdebebas have told Defensa Central their view on the matter.  "We're waiting for the transfer money to come in, that's the only thing we want if the footballer decides to leave" is the message they're sending.

The white club keeps itself apart from everything that might happen at Betis regarding Ceballos's transfer. There is a group that does support his return, but others prefer to invest in other candidates. Meanwhile, the Merengues are waiting for them to put up the €15 million they've asked for to finalize his transfer.

Ceballos has barely been used by Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso arrived at the Club World Cup intending to make things clear with several footballers. He was going to test them in training and judge there if they're useful for his plans. One of those in doubt was Ceballos, but he has ended up resolving everything.

Xabi hasn't used him as a starter, and he hasn't given him many minutes throughout the tournament. In fact, he has preferred to go with Modric, even though the Croatian was set to leave at the end of the World Cup. That has made it clear to him that if he wants to have continuity, it's going to be difficult for him at Madrid.

It's important to keep in mind that this is a national teams World Cup year in 2026. If he wants to maximize his chances of being on Luis de La Fuente's list, he needs to play more. That is pushing him to leave, with Betis as the best positioned to receive him.
