Carvajal's confession about his future that puts Madridists on alert: 'I'm not going to…'

The right-back's contract ends at the end of the season, and he admits that 'he's not going to spend his whole life at Real Madrid.'

Dani Carvajal has surprised everyone with some very honest statements about his future at Real Madrid. The full-back, captain, and emblem of the team has made it clear that he understands Alexander-Arnold's arrival.

"Trent's signing? It's totally understandable. I was 32 years old and had a serious injury. It's normal, I'm not going to be here my whole life. The years go by and you have to bring in new blood," he admitted.

Competition with Alexander-Arnold

Carvajal viewed the Englishman's arrival as something positive: "He's a good guy, he's integrated very well. It's tough competition and both of us will try to compete for the spot. For me, it's good."

The defender recalled that in other stages of his career he also had top-level rivals: "Many times my best moments of form have come with serious competition. This year, that's how I'm approaching it. It also happened with Danilo. He started playing with Benítez and I managed to win the spot."

He also highlighted that both full-backs offer different things: "We're two players with different qualities and that's good for the coach. It's a blessed problem for the club and for the coach."

A contract that ends soon

Carvajal's contract ends at the end of the season. At 33 years old, he knows Real Madrid's policy is clear: renew veteran players year by year.

The footballer accepts it naturally: "I think this way of doing things is good. Here, they renew the contract for those who earn it on the field."

His message, however, has caused concern among some Madridists. No one can imagine a locker room without Carvajal, but the player himself makes it clear that his career at Chamartín won't be eternal.

For now, Carvajal prefers to focus on the season. The competition with Alexander-Arnold will shape the day-to-day and could be key in deciding what happens next summer.

The full-back appears calm. He doesn't rule out staying if he performs at the desired level. He also doesn't rule out stepping aside if the club opts for a generational change.

For now, the only certainty is that Carvajal is facing a new challenge. Maximum competition, a contract that's ending, and a future that will be defined in the coming months.
