The center-back who is offering himself to Madrid in the final hours before signing with Inter

Real Madrid could sign a center-back, but they are closer to doing so for Inter

Real Madrid is keeping a close eye on the transfer market to strengthen some key positions. One of them has been the center-back position, where they've already added Huijsen to the squad. However, it's not ruled out that another one could arrive if Alaba ends up leaving.

Perhaps that's why Mario Gila has made a move and has offered himself to return to the white team. His great desire is to wear Real Madrid's jersey again and he's tried to do so this summer. However, it seems that the plans at Bernabéu don't include him.

That's why Gila is one step away from signing with Inter as a new player after his strong seasons. The center-back left Real Madrid Castilla for Lazio, where he struggled to settle in. Little by little, he carved out a place for himself, becoming one of the most outstanding defenders in Serie A.

Last season, he excelled in his marking of Kane in the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich. That's why Inter have set their sights on signing him and have gone after him. Meanwhile, at the white team, although they've followed him closely, they've ruled him out.

real madrid's plans for center-backs are heading in another direction

Real Madrid was looking for a center-back in the market to join Rüdiger, Militao, and Asencio in the rotation. With Huijsen, they've found that man, depending on what happens with Alaba. The Austrian could leave this summer or next, when his contract ends.

However, it's not the only move they're considering given Antonio Rüdiger's age. It's true that the German could renew to stay a couple more seasons. In the medium term, they already have to think about his replacement and Madrid have two candidates.

One would be Konaté, whose contract with Liverpool ends in 2026 and would leave for free. The other is Saliba, who's signed until 2027 with Arsenal and in a year his price would be reasonable. That closes the door to Mario Gila no matter how hard he's tried.
