The Club World Cup Becomes an Obsession for Real Madrid for This Reason

The new category tournament organized by FIFA holds a very important place in the sports plans for this season

The big news this season is the establishment of the Club World Cup. In addition to the change in the Champions League format, which extends the calendar for all participating teams, another tournament has been included for the most important teams on the planet.

With its proposal presented several months ago, FIFA has created a Club World Cup, identical in format to the World Cup held with national teams, to determine the best club in the world. The competition will be held every four years and is designed to compete, precisely, with most of the tournaments proposed by UEFA for clubs.

In addition to bringing together most of the elite soccer teams worldwide, champions of the world's most important competitions, FIFA has decided to mobilize another asset: the economic one. By radically changing the revenue generation model of its Club World Cup, the entity presided over by Gianni Infantino has stirred up a lot of excitement and expectation.

Because all the money caused during the tournament, in the United States, will end up in the coffers of the participating clubs. However, FIFA makes it clear that not all clubs aspire to end their participation in the World Cup with the same money... because it doesn't only depend on the stage at which they are eliminated.

Key Competition

It will also have a lot to do with, the International Federation points out, the club's status. Thus, the best teams in Europe would be at the forefront of revenue generation. Among them, a Real Madrid that has decided to make winning the Club World Cup a top priority.

Not only with the goal of reclaiming its position as world champion, but also for those economic reasons that FIFA cites as the main attraction of its new competition. According to information from Ben Jacobs, the winner of the Club World Cup could pocket up to 125M dollars in prize money, a more than welcome amount.

With that hefty sum, Real Madrid could make several of the acquisitions it has planned for the 2025 summer transfer market. The clause of Martín Zubimendi and the possible transfer of Dean Huijsen, players permanently in the merengue orbit, would add up to about 120M euros. It could also address the acquisition of Florian Wirtz: Bayer Leverkusen, fully aware of its star's value, would request a transfer exceeding 110M euros this summer.

The 125M dollars that Real Madrid could earn according to this English journalist would not only serve to confirm several operations in the summer transfer market. They would also act as reserve funds or money to invest in other types of activities that bring more benefits, in the long term, to Real Madrid as an entity.
