Confirmed: Real Madrid is closely monitoring a top-level midfielder from the Netherlands

The young prospect from the Netherlands who is being monitored by Real Madrid

Over the past few years, Real Madrid has focused on signing young prospects. With the clear goal of renewing the squad, the club has succeeded in the vast majority of these operations. One of its most recent targets, according to information from the newspaper Marca, is AZ Alkmaar player Kees Smit.

Despite his obvious youth, Kees Smit has shown unparalleled talent and his potential to become a great star. According to Defensa Central, signing the young Dutchman remains an option for Real Madrid. Even so, the team hasn't made any formal offer to secure his services yet.

Given the need to strengthen the midfield, Kees Smit is a more than interesting option. However, Real Madrid would first have to finalize some departures before it can begin working on signing Kees. With little time left in this transfer window, the player's situation will give plenty to talk about.

Real Madrid's interest

Trained in AZ Alkmaar's youth academy since 2015, Kees Smit has improved his quality as the seasons have gone by. Rising quickly through the ranks in recent years, Kees managed to reach the first team last summer. At just 19 years old, Kees played a total of 2,592 minutes in his debut season.

In addition to his ball control and vision, Kees Smit is also a goal-scoring midfielder. His 10 goals and 7 assists last season are proof of the impact he has at AZ Alkmaar. While his contract with the club runs until 2028, Real Madrid has been analyzing his signing for this summer transfer window.

With a value of just 5 million euros according to Transfermarkt, his transfer could happen for an affordable price. Even so, Real Madrid has kept its distance from the player's situation. Since there isn't any rival competing for this transfer, Real Madrid is calm about a signing that is increasingly interesting.

A new Merengue talent

For now, Real Madrid has decided to keep monitoring Kees Smit's progress. If the Dutchman doesn't manage to arrive this summer, his signing could be possible for the next one. The reality is that Real Madrid can't afford to lose a player with such remarkable potential as Kees Smit.
