COPE reveals Xabi Alonso's plan for 25/26: this is what the new Real Madrid will look like

The native of Tolosa already knows how the Madridist team will play, as they've revealed

Real Madrid is about to start a season in which many changes are coming. It will be the first with Xabi Alonso leading from the bench and without players like Modric or Lucas Vázquez. That will be noticeable in the team since a new project is what is desired.

It is true that during the Club World Cup we have already been able to see some of the new things he wants to implement. However, he barely had time to work on them, the same as during this preseason. Even so, on COPE they venture to give the keys to Xabi Alonso's plan for 25/26.

It was journalist Roberto Palomar who pointed out that  "the team will press high up. They can't allow themselves to endure a year like the previous one" in addition to "I expect a Madrid with hunger and ambition". That is how he sees the Merengues even before the first preseason open match.

He has also pointed out the tactical setup that Xabi Alonso will use throughout the season. "It seems to me that he won't tie himself to a fixed system" the journalist noted. That is something Defensa Central has been able to verify and therefore the friendly won't be decisive.

Xabi Alonso will take advantage of the squad and its ability to adapt

At Bayer Leverkusen we have seen that Xabi Alonso made them shine with a three-center-back formation. That was the solution he found for a team that had major defensive shortcomings and was fighting to avoid relegation. A year and a half later, he was lifting the Bundesliga trophy after a brilliant campaign.

However, the Basque doesn't tie himself to that formation since his favorite has been the 4-3-3, common in teams like Madrid. In fact, we have seen him use it in some Club World Cup matches. In the closed-door friendly against Leganés he also used that tactical setup.

Looking ahead to this season, Xabi could use both formations, even during the same match. Versatile players like Tchouaméni or Fede Valverde will help because of their ability to adapt. That is a solution from the bench without needing to make any substitutions.
