Dani Olmo Case That Blew up in Madrid's Face, a Club with Which There Was No Mercy
Real Madrid didn't have in the past that help that Barcelona has today
Spanish soccer is impressed with what happened in the last few hours, as the CSD dared to grant the precautionary measure to Barcelona.
This represents a clear harm against the rest of the sports entities in LaLiga, something that Javier Tebas himself has protested against.
The Higher Sports Council "has assessed that, follwing Sports Law's section 27, professional athletes have the right 'to a sports career according to their potential' and with all guarantees and certainty. The CSD considers that not adopting this precautionary measure would cause serious financial and sports damage to the club and, above all, to the players. This could also harm the interests of the Spanish national team, as well as the rest of the national competitions, including LaLiga."
This argument has served the CSD to grant a precautionary measure that will continue to generate a lot of noise in the coming months.
However, this preferential treatment to Barcelona has caused multiple reactions, but it has also served to delve into the archives.
Similar case against Real Madrid
Some specialists in the field have wanted to recall what Real Madrid suffered in the 2008-2009 season in the UEFA Champions League.
The Madrid entity, then presided over by Ramón Calderón, signed Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Lassana Diarra in the winter market.
The problem was that the club was unaware of rule 17.18 of the UEFA regulations and both could not be registered having played in the preliminary phases of the continental tournament.
This led the merengue team to register the French midfielder and leave out the Dutchman after a public battle between UEFA and Real Madrid.
Change in the rule
The white club threatened to report the case to the CAS, but finally ended up yielding to Michel Platini's request and everything came to nothing.
This only served for UEFA to change the regulation, although Real Madrid was indeed harmed on that occasion and no one thought about the damage to the athletes.
That episode set a precedent, as does this one, although it is clear that Barcelona plays by different rules.
