Difference between Lucas Vázquez and Modric, One Will Renew and the Other Has a Very Hard Time

At Real Madrid, there are several players whose contracts expire this upcoming June 30th and haven't renewed. Vallejo seems unlikely to continue, and Mendy hasn't made any progress in this regard. However, Lucas Vázquez and Luka Modric did seem to have more chances of doing so.

Although as the games have progressed and after Dani Carvajal's injury, Lucas Vázquez has it tough. The Galician did continue last summer after the good level he had shown. However, this year he's not stepping up as expected, and that could cost him.

It seems unlikely he can continue, especially if Alexander Arnold ends up being transfered. The Brit, along with Carvajal's recovery, will leave him without minutes at the back. So right now, there are very few chances of him being renewed.

They would only do it for him to remain an important figure in the team's changing room. However, he would have to accept a reduced offer and understand the role he's going to have.  Conditions that are still not certain to be on the table this summer.

Luka Modric does have chances of renewing his contract with Real Madrid

Unlike Lucas Vázquez, Luka Modric is performing at a high level on the field. It's true he's no longer a starter and doesn't have as many minutes, but he does contribute a lot to the team. He was seen against Valencia, with a goal and showing he brings a different dynamic to Real Madrid's play.

However, it's clear to everyone that we're talking about a player who is already 39 years old. That could affect his physical condition for the next season and maintaining the highest level. Which could mean his renewal is still not guaranteed with the team.

They have a few months ahead to make a decision about what to do with Modric. It will be later when Real Madrid decides what to do  with the Croatian player. However, right now he has more chances of staying than Lucas Vázquez, due to the level of one compared to the other.
