Dortmund is coming for a youth academy player and Real Madrid responds: This is the price

The bosses of the black and yellow club are trying to add more young talent to its ranks

The coaching changes that Real Madrid has prompted by taking advantage of the end of the 24/25 season have completely altered the sports dynamics in two of its key sections. The new technical direction, both in the firstteam and in Real Madrid Castilla, now allows for better communication.

These improved connections facilitate the exchange of talent, especially from Valdebebas to Santiago Bernabéu locker room. The latest example, aside from a Raúl Asencio who "moved up" under Carlo Ancelotti, is Gonzalo García. The current "16" for Madrid left the Club World Cup as the top scorer.

Xabi Alonso's plan is to integrate Álvaro Arbeloa's most advanced protégés into the first team's dynamics... without forgetting that "the Spartan" needs them to lead Real Madrid Castilla's return to the top of Spanish federative soccer. One of the most striking projects for the Madrid coach is Diego Aguado, a player who already made his debut with the first team last soccer season.

His closeness to the absolute Madrid sports discipline has attracted the attention of several elite European soccer clubs. Especially those specialized in "developing" young talents who later move to other teams through multimillion-euro transfers. The latest offer for Diego Aguado comes from Germany.

Not for sale

The attempts to sign this Real Madrid Castilla center-back, who can also play as a left-back on rare occasions, are not having the desired success. Although Diego Aguado has a market value set at one million euros, the Valdebebas offices will block any attempt to sign him.

Borussia Dortmund has encountered that same response. The leaders of the German team have been considering signing this young defensive prospect for some time, but they always get a "no" in response. The only way Real Madrid would let Diego Aguado leave is through his release clause.

Real Madrid has set Diego Aguado's exit barrier at €60 million. That "shield" is not exclusive to the center-back, since it is part of a talent protection strategy very close to his inclusion in elite European soccer. Players like Raúl Asencio and Gonzalo García, before moving permanently to the first team, were subject to the same clause.

The prospect of paying those €60 million doesn't seem to convince the top brass at Westfalenstadion. Especially since the black and yellow executives know very well that there will be no other way to try to sign this young Madrid center-back. Álvaro Arbeloa plans to make him one of his regular starters at Real Madrid Castilla and Diego Aguado seems ready to take on that role.
