Edu Aguirre announces Madrid's next superstar, there are talks: 'He can't wait'

Real Madrid has a new target to strengthen its defense. According to Edu Aguirre on El Chiringuito, the club has already contacted Ibrahima Konaté, Liverpool's center-back.

“He's eager to come to Real Madrid”, Aguirre stated. The Frenchman has already given the green light to his arrival at Bernabéu, although the club expects to move patiently.

The board's idea is to repeat the formula used with Alexander-Arnold: wait until his contract ends in the summer of 2026 (2026), and bring him in as a free agent.

"Right before signing Huijsen, we mentioned that Real Madrid had contacted Konaté. We reported it here, and the player is eager to come to Real Madrid. The club's strategy is to wait until next summer, because his contract ends. It'll be done just like with Arnold, who was also at Liverpool. Real Madrid's idea is to wait for Konaté until the summer of 2026 (2026), and the player is delighted," the journalist noted.

Psg gets involved and Liverpool hesitate

But not everything will be that simple. According to Defensa Central, PSG wants to prevent Konaté from ending up at Madrid.  After being eliminated from the Club World Cup, the French club has already started negotiating with Liverpool to close the signing as soon as possible.

The problem for the English side is that Konaté has rejected all contract renewal offers. Faced with this situation, at Anfield they're seriously considering selling him, so they don't lose him for free in a year.

Real Madrid are calm. Sources at the club assure that the player's priority is to land at Bernabéu, and they don't plan to compete with exorbitant offers like PSG's.

Even so, if Liverpool opens the door to a transfer for a reasonable amount, Madrid doesn't rule out bringing him in as early as 2025.

Konaté, an ideal profile for the new project

Madrid's interest in Konaté responds to a real need. Rüdiger and Alaba are already over 30 years old, and Militao's physical condition after his two serious injuries still raises doubts.

Xabi Alonso needs to renew the center of the defense, and Konaté fits perfectly: young, powerful, with authority, and used to competing at the elite level.

At Valdebebas, they've also closely followed William Saliba, but Arsenal has a contract with him until 2027 (2027) and is working to renew it. That's why Konaté is gaining ground in the offices.
