Endrick to Real Sociedad, almost done: Real Madrid shut out at the last minute

The future of the Brazilian striker may have changed radically in just a few days

Real Madrid continues restructuring Santiago Bernabéu locker room to adapt it to the tactical needs left by Xabi Alonso. The Tolosa coach faces the important task of getting back on the winning track, so the executives led by Florentino Pérez are alert to his demands and requests.

One of the most notable is adding new players to the first team. After a striking consideration, the Valdebebas offices have reportedly decided to close their interventions in the transfer market of European soccer's elite. At least regarding incoming transfers.

While the exit door of the first team remains open, it doesn't seem that any of the current members of Santiago Bernabéu locker room want to leave. Not even Endrick, whose competitive situation at Real Madrid is more complicated than ever. The "16" verdeamarelo looked forward to Xabi Alonso's arrival with great enthusiasm and hope.

Indeed, he could get with the Basque coach all the minutes he hadn't enjoyed under Carlo Ancelotti's tactical leadership. However, his injury during the Club World Cup, as well as Gonzalo García's emergence in that tournament in the United States, put him far from being the direct substitute.

He is in a delicate situation

The irregular position in which the Carioca forward finds himself, given his anonymity in the Club World Cup, led to a recent approach between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad. In those talks, they discussed the possibility of letting Endrick go on loan to Reale Arena for just one season.

The agreement seemed to satisfy both parties, but when everything was ready to be signed, the deal collapsed according to information published by Arancha Rodríguez. The COPE journalist reveals that the current injury of the Taguatinga striker is the reason why that promising move wasn't completed this summer.

Endrick now, after this failed loan attempt, faces a great challenge: to fully recover from his current injury and compete, head-to-head, against Gonzalo García. At stake is the position of second-in-command and hypothetical successor to Kylian Mbappé, a truly privileged spot in long-term sports planning.

He starts with a considerable disadvantage in that regard. Not only because of the new and unexpected situation surrounding Gonzalo García, but also because his own physical problems may have reduced his chances of progressing in the first team. The 25/26 season could well confirm or deny, it seems, the continuity of the South American player at Real Madrid.
