Estrada Fernández directly accuses a 'suspicious' referee and the CTA

In a week filled with important matches, Real Madrid is preparing for each of them. The first is their match against Leganés in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. The second, on the other hand, is the Madrid classic where the winner will be proclaimed as the leader of LaLiga.

However, despite these matches, the attention of the Merengue team has focused on Estrada Fernández. The former referee has made a series of statements denouncing a referee and the CTA itself. "I find the appointment of Cuadra Fernández surprising; a referee born in Madrid, known for his sympathy for Atlético de Madrid."

Through these words, Estrada has denounced a clear irregularity in Cuadra's refereeing. Similarly, his statements are a clear criticism of the way the CTA appoints referees for the matches.

Another refereeing scandal

After the painful and scandalous defeat against Espanyol, Real Madrid hoped not to see more refereeing controversies.  However, Estrada's words have shown that this wish will not be possible to fulfill. Making serious accusations, Estrada's words have caused a stir throughout Madridism.

The CTA has been left in a very bad position after these statements, with several doubts arising about its way of choosing referees. Of all those it could end up choosing to officiate the matches, the CTA opted for the one who is clearly a fan of Atlético.

A highly questionable decision that clearly benefits the Colchonero team to secure victory. This completely exposes the issue of refereeing in the country. An issue which, instead of advancing to improve, takes steps to continue worsening.

A situation that must be investigated

The appointment of a referee who is clearly a fan of the Rojiblanco club is something that must be investigated as soon as possible. In a sport and, primarily, a competition where constant improvement is sought, this can't be possible if the refereeing is not up to par.
