Fabrizio Romano announces the signing and the date, agreement with the world's best
Real Madrid will renew his contract, and there is already a date for the agreement to be formalized
Activity in the Valdebebas hallways has been frenetic in recent weeks. Real Madrid is focused on securing signings so they can be at the Club World Cup. However, these aren't the only operations they have in their sights at the moment.
They're also working on ensuring the continuity of some very important players. This summer, Vallejo will leave—he's already said goodbye—Lucas Vázquez and Modrić, the latter two after the World Cup ends. But months ago, they reached an agreement for Dani Carvajal's contract renewal.

The next on the list was expected to be Vinícius, but it seems there's another name that's moved ahead. It's Thibaut Courtois, and according to Fabrizio Romano, everything is very close to being finalized. Real Madrid is going to offer a contract renewal to the Belgian goalkeeper during the next month.
It was one of the priorities they had set and the agreement is expected to be finalized this summer. Courtois feels very comfortable at the club and in the Spanish capital and doesn't want to move. Madrid is making sure to have the best in the world in his position to keep having security at the back.
The goalkeeper dilemma won't be with Courtois
Right now, we don't know if Lunin will leave or stay in Thibaut Courtois's shadow for another year. The Belgian is going to be the undisputed starter in the merengue goal this season. Although Xabi Alonso hasn't revealed his plans for it yet.

The Ukrainian could start looking for a new destination to get more minutes. This is being considered since Real Madrid believes they could cash in on him. Especially because Courtois's continuity will close the door for him to have more opportunities.
The goalkeeper debate won't focus on the Belgian, since his continuity is taken for granted. Instead, it'll be about who will be his backup if Lunin leaves, since there aren't many options. Joan García is close to Barça and Donnarumma will be difficult to get out of PSG.
