“The personal agreement is closed. Mastantuono wants to play for Real Madrid. It's his dream”, he wrote this Wednesday on social media.
The white club is already working on the next step: reaching an agreement with River Plate. The release clause is €45 million. However, Madrid wants to avoid paying it.
The "but" that could delay his arrival
The only pending point is when he will arrive. Real Madrid is considering leaving him on loan at River until December. That would allow the player to keep growing in his environment and play in the Club World Cup with his current team.
Mastantuono will turn 18 on August 14. At that age, he can legally join Real Madrid's squad. However, his participation in the Club World Cup with River is something that appeals to both the player and his camp.
The white club is open to that option. There's no rush. The goal is to secure the footballer, but without cutting his progression. If he stays until December, he will arrive with more experience and ready to make the leap to Europe.
Dual nationality and no non-EU spot
Another key point in favor of Real Madrid is his nationality. Mastantuono holds an Italian passport. Therefore, he won't take up a non-EU spot in the squad. This is a key detail for his adaptation and registration.
