Fabrizio Romano Reveals What Will Happen with Madrid and Alexander-Arnold These Days

The Italian journalist has pointed out the decision that has been made regarding the transfer of the winger

Real Madrid entered the winter transfer market with a clear understanding that no movements were going to occur. However, everything changed when they lost the Spanish Supercopa final against Barça. At that moment, the option for Alexander-Arnold was reactivated for January.

Florentino raised his offer to 30 millions hoping to convince Liverpool to sell now. They wanted to take advantage of already having a deal closed with Arnold for the summer. Therefore, the Reds risked losing him for free if they didn't transfer him in January.

However, despite the attempts, Liverpool has refused, and that has a significant consequence. Fabrizio Romano has announced that the Whites will not make any moves during the winter market. "Confirmed, Real Madrid has closed the door to any transfers in January," the journalist indicated.

It seemed that the only possibility was the British winger, especially after reaching an agreement with him. However, Liverpool's stance has been not to negotiate to avoid losing him mid-season. Therefore, according to Romano, that confirms there will be no transfers.

Real Madrid has several reasons not to enter the winter market

Injuries have hit Real Madrid hard in recent seasons, and key players. But the Whites have decided not to enter the winter market to strengthen. Something that has surprised since it was one of the demands made by Madridists.

But there are several reasons for not doing so, starting with the fact that the offer of players doesn't quite convince. They haven't had very good experiences with players who arrived as stopgaps. And it seems that it was something they didn't want to repeat in recent years.

Additionally, they were clear that they didn't want any operation to be affected now in January. Especially Arnold's, with whom they would already have a closed deal for next summer. For this reason, they weren't going to go after another full-back that could deter the Brit.
