Real Madrid Have Already Taken the Step with Van Dijk and His Signing This Summer

With Real Madrid looking for a center-back with the future in mind, Van Dijk has emerged strongly. The Dutch player ends his contract on June 30 and hasn't renewed with Liverpool. It seems increasingly unlikely that it will happen, and he would be on the market this coming summer.

His situation was being followed by the white team, but also by other clubs like PSG who want him. Taking advantage of his contractual situation, they are willing to make an effort to convince him. A 100M contract on the table and Florentino already knows what it would cost.

Indeed, despite the rumors, Real Madrid doesn't plan to enter a bidding war for Van Dijk. It's a signing they have ruled out, especially with a contract like the one PSG offers. Even though the center-back's agents have tried to test the waters with the Merengues.

But the white club considers him a veteran player despite his good performance. What they are looking for is a younger player who can be a long-term project. That's why Van Dijk won't come, especially not for the huge amount they would have to offer him.

Real Madrid Reduces Center-Back Casting to Just Two Names.

It's true that countless names have been mentioned over the past few months as possible signings. Lukeba, Cuti Romero, Calafiori… but Real Madrid has reduced the list to two. They are the favorites as they see them as the best center-backs they can find.

On one hand, there is Saliba, whose performance at Arsenal at the highest level is beyond doubt. It's true that the Gunners are asking for a fortune to close his transfer this summer. But the next one could be easier since his contract ends in 2027.

The other candidate is Huijsen, one of the revelations in the Premier League this season. This Thursday, he debuted with the Spanish national team and showed that he has character in difficult situations. Additionally, his price should be more affordable, although it will also require an effort.
