Florentino Takes the First Step, Doesn't Want to Wait after Saudi Arabia's Offer to Vini
The white president wants to solve a very concerning issue as soon as possible
One of Madrid's pending tasks is to hit the transfer market to address some losses incurred during the first months of this season. However, it's not the only thing. Because the continuity of several players who have been key to the team's development in recent campaigns is also at stake.
Besides the players whose contracts with the Meringue entity end in the 2025 summer, like Modric or Vázquez, there are others at risk of leaving. The most concerning right now in the Valdebebas offices is Vinícius, who is in Saudi Arabia's sights.
Several teams from that country, including Al-Hilal, have approached Real Madrid's '7' Brazilian with the intention of getting his services as soon as possible. The reply from the Valdebebas offices couldn't be clearer: whoever wants to sign him must pay his release clause.
Those 1,000 million euros set in Vinícius's current contract with the entity dissuade, at least for now, all the candidates from transfer inghim. However, it also allows them to use another strategy: let time pass. And take the opportunity to make an offer in a year and a half.
All in due time
By then, Vinícius would be in his last year of contract with Real Madrid, since the agreement signed some time ago ends definitively in the summer of 2027. The goal of the leaders led by Florentino is to change that as soon as possible, extending the stay of the São Gonçalo star in Bernabéu locker room for many years. The first attempt was unsuccessful.
The approaches initiated by the white leadership, right after the controversy at the 2024 Ballon d'Or, received a surprising rejection that put Saudi Arabia in the spotlight. Nothing could be further from the truth: Vinícius's camp wanted to wait for a higher salary offer from the Madrid team.
Revealing their cards, both parties in the negotiation seem to have set the first talks for Vinícius to extend his contract with Real Madrid. He would do so sooner than many thought according to the information published by the newspaper MARCA: it would be in the summer of 2025.
Just as a new attempt by Saudi Arabia to transfer Vinícius is being speculated, Florentino would be negotiating a stellar renewal with the Brazilian. Besides increasing his years as a Madridist, everything points to his salary being significantly increased... with the goal of reducing the gap that currently exists between his earnings and Kylian Mbappé's emoluments.
