Not Even for Free: Florentino Rules Out This Transfer 3 Weeks Before the Market Opens
Real Madrid has ruled out Gabri Veiga's transfer, as the midfield is complete at the moment
Real Madrid has definitively closed the door on the arrival of Gabri Veiga. Florentino Pérez, the club's president, was strict: "Not even for free." The decision shows that the Galician midfielder, currently at Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, is not part of the club's plans.
The main reason for this dismissal is in the meringue midfield. With Jude Bellingham as the undisputed leader and the steady growth of young talents such as Brahim Díaz and Arda Güler, Real Madrid considers that their midfield is more than covered. Added to this is the solidity of established players such as Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
The club sees no need to bring in Veiga, who left Europe to sign a multi-million-euro contract in Saudi Arabia last summer. Although his quality is not in doubt, Madrid believes he doesn't fit into their current project. "We have a midfield prepared to dominate in the coming years," say sources close to the club.
City wants him
This decision puts Manchester City in a privileged position to acquire the player. Pep Guardiola, the coach of the English team, has shown interest in Gabri Veiga since his time at Celta Vigo. The English club believes that the Galician could bring a combination of youth and quality to their squad.
On the other hand, the case of Veiga generates divided opinions. Some consider that his choice to go to Saudi Arabia at such a young age harmed his career in European soccer. Others, however, believe that he still has time to prove his worth at the elite level.
At Real Madrid, meanwhile, the planning remains focused on strengthening other positions. The arrival of Mbappé in the summer and the emergence of young talents such as Raúl Asencio consolidate a promising future for the club.
With the transfer market about to open, Gabri Veiga will have to look for alternatives away from Santiago Bernabéu. In the meantime, Madrid is focused on maintaining its winning streak with a team built to compete at the highest level.
Florentino's message has been clear: There will be no room for Gabri Veiga at Real Madrid now or in the near future.
