A former Girona player offers to play for Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid: 'I'd fit in'

Aleix García believes he has the level to play for Real Madrid and perform Kroos's duties, although he clarifies: 'With all due respect'

The midfielder Aleix García has sent a clear signal to Real Madrid. The former Girona player, now at Bayer Leverkusen, has shown he's open to wearing white.

In an interview with AS, Aleix stated that he feels ready to play for Xabi Alonso's team. He didn't hesitate to say that "he'd fit" in Real Madrid's play style.

"I don't want to seem arrogant, but I trust myself. I think yes, I could perform at a high level at Madrid," said the Catalan footballer.

Aleix thinks he can fill Kroos's void

Toni Kroos's departure has left a huge gap in the center of the white midfield. Aleix García is aware of this. Although he shows humility, he also acknowledges certain similarities with the German.

"Obviously I'm not Kroos, but we share things in the way we play. He was a global reference. I haven't reached that level, but I consider myself capable of being in a team like this," explained the Leverkusen midfielder.

Xabi Alonso knows Aleix very well after working with him at the German club. His knowledge of the Basque coach's play style could be a plus for the signing.

He values Modric's departure and comments on other names

Besides talking about himself, Aleix also had words for Luka Modric, who will leave the club after the Club World Cup. "He's a unique player. I keep his jersey with affection. Even though he doesn't have the same pace as before, he's still a genius of the game," he commented.

He also referred to the possible signing of Angelo Stiller, a Stuttgart midfielder. Aleix was clear: "He handles the ball well, especially in short passes, but there are better options for Madrid."

Aleix García's name is thus added to the list of possible reinforcements for the new Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso. The Basque coach is looking to renew the midfield. He could bet on a player he already knows firsthand.

With a contract in Germany and steady progress, the former Girona player is waiting for his opportunity. Real Madrid already knows he's available.
