Ramón von Hannover warns about Rodrygo and Madrid's jersey announcement: 'It means...

The journalist wanted to temper the euphoria surrounding Rodrygo, since posing with the new jersey doesn't mean he is staying

Real Madrid has unveiled its new jersey for the 2025-26 season. Among the players posing with it is Rodrygo Goes, an image that has sparked interpretations about his immediate future at the white club.

Some fans consider his appearance as proof of continuity. However, Ramón de Mon, a journalist closely linked to Real Madrid's current events, has wanted to cool down those theories with a direct message on social media.

"Being in the photo doesn't guarantee anything"

Through his X account (formerly Twitter), Ramón de Mon was clear. Quoting Real Madrid's announcement, he wrote: "Remember this for future occasions: the presence or absence of players in the presentation of a new jersey doesn't mean anything."

He said this in reference to Rodrygo, who remains surrounded by rumors about a possible departure this summer. The journalist's statement points directly to not taking for granted that the Brazilian will stay just because he posed with the new jersey.

To support his point, he recalled past examples. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Toni Kroos also participated in promotional photo sessions with jerseys for the following season... and then left.

Cristiano appeared with the 2018-19 season's jersey and ended up signing for Juventus weeks later.
Benzema also posed before leaving for Saudi Arabia. Kroos, who recently announced his retirement, starred in the 2023 campaign shortly before announcing his farewell.

The conclusion is clear: being part of the official promotion doesn't guarantee that the player will stay. It's just part of the club's image strategy, not a message about sporting decisions.

Rodrygo still hasn't decided his future

Rodrygo has made it clear in private that he wants to play on the left. With Mbappé joining the team, that possibility seems limited. For this reason, the Brazilian will soon meet with Xabi Alonso to clarify his role in the new project.

The player doesn't rule out leaving if he's not guaranteed a leading role. Meanwhile, Real Madrid won't let him go for free. His minimum price is €80 million fixed, although a sale is expected to be around €100 million.

Several Premier League clubs have already inquired about his situation. The summer market is just beginning, and although Rodrygo posed with the new jersey, his future remains open. As Ramón de Mon rightly said, "it doesn't mean anything."
