Goodbye to the huge offer from Arabia: he rejects $100M to play on the same team as Mbappé

Zidane has turned down the opportunity to coach in Saudi Arabia and, as a result, has declined a one-season offer worth 100 million

Zinedine Zidane has said no to a dizzying offer. The French coach has turned down €100 million ($100 million) to manage a club in Saudi Arabia for just one season.

The proposal was clear:one-year contract and €100 million ($100 million) net, in addition to full powers. Zidane also only wants to share a locker room with Kylian Mbappé, being his coach in France.

Zidane only thinks about France

The goal of the former Real Madrid coach is to manage the French national team. Zidane has been waiting for his opportunity for years. He doesn't want clubs. He wants Les Bleus's bench.

Currently, the coach is Didier Deschamps. His contract is valid until the 2026 World Cup, but if the results don't follow in the Nations League, there could be changes before then.

Zidane has already turned down other offers in the past. He was linked to PSG, Juventus, and Bayern. He was also tempted by federations like Brazil's. However, he has always made it clear that his priority is to coach France.

The legacy and the unfulfilled dream

Zidane is a legend of French soccer. As a player, he was world champion in 1998 and European champion in 2000. As a coach, he won three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

At 51 years old, he believes the time has come to take the step to the national team. He wants to return glory to France, now with a young and powerful generation, with Mbappé as the big star.

Since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane hasn't sat on a bench again. He turned down very attractive projects both economically and sportingly. The latest refusal, the one from Saudi Arabia, confirms it: Zidane isn't moved by money.

He is convinced that he will coach France. He will wait as long as it takes.

For now, the Saudis will have to keep looking. Because Zidane has already chosen his destiny. He can't be bought with millions.
