Guardiola's condition to sign Rodrygo: He wants him now
Manchester City's coach makes a move in the saga of the Brazilian striker
The end of the summer transfer window is approaching and Real Madrid aims to conclude all the possible departures it has planned. The squad is closed, officials at Valdebebas state, making it clear that there are no signings planned for Xabi Alonso. The situation is different with the footballers who could leave the club.
Dani Ceballos is one of the most notable, due to his recent closeness to Olympique de Marseille. In addition to the Sevillian number "19", the saga of Rodrygo Goes could be reaching a climax: the "11" verdeamarelo's entourage has made it clear that the footballer's desire is to stay.

However, the pressure from several Premier League clubs to secure his services, although brief and without triggering any offers, significantly alters the conclusion of the "case". One of the most notable offers for the Osasco striker is Manchester City, a club that has always closely followed Rodrygo's career at Real Madrid.
In fact, the English club tried to secure the contract of the Brazilian player in previous summer transfer windows. Those approaches came to nothing: the bond between the verdeamarelo forward and the club presided over by Florentino Pérez seemed unbreakable. The passage of time and the loss of competitive status have worn things down and allowed for those approaches.
One for the other, there is no alternative
For now, Manchester City hasn't revealed its intentions in this saga, but Pep Guardiola is said to have made it clear internally that adding Rodrygo is a priority. So much so that his signing would depend exclusively on the fate of another signing... also involving the sky blue club: the departure of Savinho to Tottenham Hotspurs.
The Catalan coach intends to finalize the classic "swap deal" during the last days of the 2025 summer window. By letting Savinho go for approximately €85 million, the next step is to approach Real Madrid to try to sign Rodrygo Goes. Officials at Valdebebas won't hesitate to give the same response with which they started this saga: €100 million.

Thus, the departure of Savinho becomes a conditio sine qua non for Rodrygo Goes to leave Santiago Bernabéu locker room... heading to Manchester City. If the agreement between Tottenham Hotspurs and the sporting management led by Hugo Viana doesn't come to fruition, the "11" verdeamarelowould lose that opportunity entirely.
Especially because Pep Guardiola doesn't want to see his attacking options further reduced. The changes made to the first cityzen squad suggested the arrival of the Osasco striker as a high-profile signing, but only Savinho holds the key to that much desired transfer.
