Guti Weighs in on Laporta and the Olmo Case: If I Were a Barça...

Former Real Madrid player admitted that the images are funny, but that he'd be embarrassed if the protagonist is his president

José María Gutiérrez, "Guti", former Real Madrid player, hasn't held back when commenting on Joan Laporta and his recent controversy. During a debate on El Chiringuito, Guti commented on the images of the Barcelona president making obscene gestures in the box.

Laporta's gesture occurred after it was announced that the CSD granted the precautionary measure to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Cameras captured the Barcelona leader celebrating in an effusive and controversial manner, something that didn't go unnoticed.

Guti's reaction

Guti was blunt in his statements: "If I were a Barça, I wouldn't like this image of my president to come out". For the former Madrid player, Laporta's gesture damages Barcelona's institutional image and doesn't represent the behavior a leader of his category should have.

"It's a lack of respect, not only for those who were there, but also for the fans. This doesn't help give the club a good image," Guti added, making his point clear.

The Olmo case and its impact

The conflict arose over the registration of Dani Olmo, whose stay was at risk due to administrative issues. Barcelona appealed to the CSD and obtained a precautionary measure that allowed them to register both Olmo and Pau Víctor.

The decision caused discontent in some sectors of Spanish soccer, including the RFEF, whose members were in the box during Laporta's gesture.

Laporta's images caused mixed opinions. Some Barça fans defended the president's effusiveness, while others considered his behavior inappropriate.

Guti, for his part, insisted that a president must maintain composure, even in moments of celebration.

"This transcends soccer. You represent a club and millions of people. It's not the time to make those gestures," he stated.

A topic that continues to generate debate

The controversy remains open. Laporta hasn't made official statements on the matter, but the Olmo case and his registration are already solved. However, the president's gesture continues to be the subject of criticism.

Guti, true to his style, didn't hesitate to give his opinion. His message was clear: "If I were a Barça fan, this wouldn't make me feel proud".
