He played for Real Madrid and PSG, now he's demanding millions from FIFA for blocking his signing
The millionaire sum demanded from FIFA by a player with a past at Real Madrid
Real Madrid has had, throughout its entire history, several players who managed to stand out for different feats. However, the club has also had players who make headlines for situations off the field. This is the case of Lassana Diarra who, according to information from the newspaper Marca, has demanded €65 million from FIFA.
The reason behind this is the damages and losses that FIFA caused Diarra in his football career. The former French player, during 2014 and as part of Lokomotiv Moscow, tried to terminate his contract with the team. He did this in order to sign for Belgian club Charleroi in a move that couldn't be completed due to FIFA's intervention.
After more than 10 long years, the Court of Justice of the European Union has declared several rules illegal. In light of this, Diarra is seeking compensation after all the time he has spent trying to seek justice. Although FIFA hasn't commented on the matter, Diarra trusts he will achieve his goal.
The fight against FIFA
At 40 years old, Lassana Diarra had a very long career, ending in 2019 after a season at PSG. The Frenchman, who was a more than decent midfielder, was part of Real Madrid for 3 seasons. From 2009 to 2012, the club had a player who played a total of 116 matches as a Madridist.

Despite the titles he won throughout his career, Diarra has spent more than 10 years fighting against FIFA. Currently, with the full support of FIPRO, the Frenchman trusts he will receive the compensation he believes he deserves. Being able to endure so many years in this legal battle was possible because of the career Diarra had, according to his own words.
As his legal representative has explained, a prompt return to the courts is expected to address this situation. The CJEU also determined that Article 45 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union was violated. With all this support, the only thing left to do is wait for the resolution of this case.
A million-euro compensation
If he manages to defeat FIFA, Lassana Diarra would set a precedent for player compensations. This would force FIFA to have to reform its regulations. Without a doubt, this case, 11 years later, is set to be historic.
