Maldini's ideal line-up of the season: there's only one Real Madrid player

Maldini only includes one Real Madrid player among the best of the season

The Club World Cup is still to come, but many are already assessing the season that's coming to an end. That's what happened on La Cope, where they asked Maldini for his ideal eleven. The analyst has pointed out the best players by combining all competitions.

It was clear that PSG would have the majority in this eleven after their strong season. They have won the treble and, above all, managed to win the Champions League. That's why quite a few Parisian players appear in the eleven Maldini has chosen.

Donnarumma as goalkeeper, Nuno Mendes and Achraf as full-backs, Vitinha in midfield, and Dembélé. These are the five PSG players who make it into Maldini's ideal eleven for the season. It's total dominance by the Champions League winner, something that, as we said, is more than understandable.

In midfield, he forms a double pivot with Pedri alongside the Portuguese PSG player. One line ahead with Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Dembélé, with all three Barça players appearing. This is surprising since they were eliminated in the Champions League semifinals, and he didn't include anyone from Inter and only one from Arsenal.

The one who definitely had to appear is Dembélé, the great favorite for the Ballon d'Or this season. He has been PSG's leader, who ended up winning the Champions League and was chosen as the tournament's MVP. He also finished as the top scorer in Ligue 1 despite playing as a winger.

Only one Madridist and he admits few doubts

In this eleven, Maldini has only included one Madridist, and the one finally chosen was Kylian Mbappé. Winning the Golden Boot makes him the best striker in Europe. Therefore, he has placed him as the spearhead in his ideal line-up for the season.

Vinicius, Fede Valverde, and Courtois are left out, as they haven't been as brilliant as in other years. However, Kylian's presence does indicate that Madrid has a future ahead. Once everyone gives their best version, they're going to dominate this eleven next year.
