Iñigo Martínez Rants Against Real Madrid After the Copa Final: 'They Haven't Been a...'

The FC Barcelona center-back throws a new jab at the white team after their victory in Seville

The defeat of Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona continues to generate multiple comments and opinions about what happened on the field at La Cartuja. One of the most unexpected and shocking comments, which has become a direct attack on Real Madrid, came after that final from Íñigo Martínez.

The new '5' of FC Barcelona, with the victory secured, spoke to the media in a flash interview that hasn't gone unnoticed for its reference to the white club. Speaking about the controversy of the referees in the final, given the videos about referees from Real Madrid TV, the center-back pointed out that  "I think they have been very fair".

For Íñigo Martínez, "we all make mistakes, we can be better or worse, but reaching those levels I think is not up to the great club that Real Madrid is". In his opinion, the communicative work of the white club would detract from the prestige of the entity presided over by Florentino Pérez... simply by pointing out the mistakes made by the referees in the matches they officiate for the merengue club.

The FC Barcelona player covers himself: "that's my opinion. As for the rest, meanwhile, today I congratulated him for the work he had done", he notes about his brief conversation with Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea at the end of the match. He also makes it clear that  "I hope the rest do too, that they put themselves in his shoes because it's not easy".

Incredible Accusation

Íñigo Martínez devoted a good amount of time in his flash interview to launching a dissertation about Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea and the work the Basque referee did during the final. "It's not easy to be there and have everyone point at you. Today I think soccer has won and that's what's important", the FC Barcelona defender notes with the Copa del Rey victory already secured.

The comments of the blaugrana '5' haven't gone unnoticed. Not only for the staunch defense of the referees in an advantageous situation, when the blaugrana players themselves have had more than one altercation with the Spanish referees this season. Also for his direct reference to Real Madrid.

Once again, the referee controversy gains strength in a victory for FC Barcelona. Íñigo Martínez indirectly calls for the protection of the referees' group in our country, pointing without reason at Real Madrid with an inexplicable and unexpected 'rant'.

The videos about referees made by Real Madrid TV are not only protected by freedom of expression, as the white club noted in one of its most recent statements. They also have a really limited reach... which certainly can't be compared to the impact and range of effect that words like those made by Íñigo Martínez have.
