Sánchez, Dejected after the Defeat, Surprises by Saying Thanks to a Barça
The renowned journalist used irony when talking about Real Madrid's game in the Supercopa
Real Madrid fans are deeply affected by the defeat in the Spanish Supercopa final. Not only because of the loss of a title, especially against the eternal rival, but also due to the poor image shown by the team. The players couldn't stand up to Barça for most of the game and ended up conceding four goals in one half.
The game started well for the European champions thanks to Kylian Mbappé's stunning goal, but Barça kept creating dangerous plays. Lamine Yamal equalized the game with a great goal, and Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Balde sealed a rout in the first half.
Not even against ten players...
After the restart, Real Madrid had a great chance with Rodrygo Goes's shot, which hit the post. However, once again, the shortcomings of the Meringue defense were exposed seconds later with Raphinha's goal.
Barça had a great opportunity to inflict a historic rout on Madrid, but Szczęsny's expulsion changed everything. Hansi Flick was forced to make several changes, and Rodrygo's set-piece goal made Barça retreat a bit more. Despite this, Ancelotti's team couldn't score any more goals.
José Luís Sánchez uses irony after the defeat
The renowned journalist had to apply irony when talking about the match between Madrid and Barça on El Chiringuito. "We have to thank Szczęsny because without him it would have been even worse," José Luís Sánchez began, under the watchful eyes of those present.
"The second half with one more player was pure impotence. You had Barça that when you scored the free kick with Rodrygo they had doubts and weren't shooting on goal," he said. Real Madrid played more than half an hour with one more player, and still, they couldn't create much more danger on the culé goal.
"You could see the faces of some players saying 'Watch out if they score the third, there's half an hour left.' And they weren't shooting on goal. I think that's the worst part. You can fall, you can lose, but the feeling of impotence with one more player remains," he concluded.
