Juanma Rodríguez compares Lamine Yamal with a former Real Madrid player: 'This kid...'

The journalist has compared the young winger to Robinho and his blazing career start

Lamine Yamal keeps receiving praise. But he also sparks debates. Juanma Rodríguez, journalist from El Chiringuito, has issued a warning about the young FC Barcelona star.

On his X account, Rodríguez compared the winger to a former Real Madrid player: Robinho.

"I've seen it many times: Robinho, for example"

"What Lamine Yamal does, I've seen many do. Many," said Juanma. He went further: "Robinho, for example. Exaggeration and adulation will end this kid's career."

Robinho arrived at Real Madrid as an emerging superstar. Coming from Santos, his debut was spectacular. In Cádiz, in 2005, he dazzled the world. But his career didn't live up to that beginning.

The Brazilian passed through the white club like lightning. In his first weeks, he caused excitement. He soon lost prominence. He lacked consistency, commitment, and discipline.

Moreover, his life off the field worked against him. Parties, poor decisions, and an unprofessional environment caused Robinho to lose his spark. Not only at Madrid, but also at Manchester City, Milan, and Santos.

Over time, he himself admitted mistakes. He also spoke about his bitter exit from Madrid, and about the relationship he had with figures like Beckham or Ibrahimovic.

"Adulation can ruin Lamine"

Juanma Rodríguez doesn't question Lamine's talent. He does warn about the danger of raising expectations too soon.

"This kid has quality, yes. But if we treat him like a global star at 16 years old, we can ruin him," added the journalist.

It wouldn't be the first time. Soccer has seen many careers cut short by media pressure or hasty decisions. Yamal has plenty of soccer, but he still needs maturity and calm.

Barça have a special talent in their hands. They also have a huge responsibility: to protect him from the noise. To prevent him from getting lost along the way like so many others.

Robinho was one of them. He arrived as the new Pelé. He ended up as an unfulfilled promise. Time will tell if Lamine Yamal manages to avoid that fate.
