Konaté responds to Liverpool about his contract renewal, there's no turning back, about to sign

The imminent agreement that Ibrahima Konaté is close to finalizing due to Liverpool's desire to renew his contract

One of the major stories for Liverpool during this summer transfer window has been Ibrahima Konaté's contract renewal. As he is a pillar of the team's defense, the club has tried several times to get the Frenchman to sign a new deal. However, according to information from José Félix Díaz, Liverpool isn't optimistic about being able to keep Konaté.

This is because, as we know at Defensa Central, the player isn't interested in extending his stay at Anfield. Real Madrid remains an option for a center-back who is seeking new challenges in his career. In addition, the signings Liverpool is preparing for its backline show that the club has accepted Konaté's departure.

Being in the final season of his contract, Konaté could leave this summer for an affordable fee. Although Transfermarkt gives him a value of €60 million, the reality is that this will be lower. With a spot still available in its squad, Real Madrid is getting closer to signing Konaté.

The solution for Real Madrid

Throughout last season, one of the positions that caused the most problems for Real Madrid was the backline. Constant injuries left the club without enough center-backs to face much of the campaign. While Asencio was a good move to strengthen the backline, it still wasn't enough to face the most important matches.

Dean Huijsen was the signing Real Madrid made this summer to strengthen its defense. However, the club is aware that the young Spaniard needs a partner. While Militao has recovered from his injury, the Brazilian still raises doubts about his level.

This is why Ibrahima Konaté would be an excellent signing with which Real Madrid could conclude the transfer window in a great way. At 26 years old, Konaté has the age and experience the club requires to restore solidity to the backline.

The imminent signing

Although it hasn't made an offer yet, this is only a matter of time for Real Madrid. Signing Konaté would solve several of last season's problems. Not to mention, Tchouaméni would no longer have to play as a center-back, being able to focus entirely on the midfield.
