Laporta's Confession about Nico Williams and Real Madrid: He Didn't Come because...
Laporta explained what happened with Nico Williams's failed transfer
Barcelona wanted to transfer Nico Williams last season. All the journalists close to the Barça club spread that news, and it ultimately didn't happen. The reason wasn't really known, however, a journalist has recently made it public.
"I asked Laporta about the failure of the Nico Williams deal with Barcelona. The president told me that Nico is from Real Madrid," stated Talha Ahmad, an Arab journalist, in an interview. According to his sources, the hope of joining Madrid would have made him reject Barça.
At the moment, it seems impossible for Nico to join Madrid because they already have many strikers. No one doubts the level and quality of the young Athletic player, but at Madrid, there are Vinícius and Rodrygo. He wouldn't join the Meringue club to be a substitute or a rotation player.
An interesting player
At Real Madrid, they've always seen Nico Williams as a player with enormous potential because he has spectacular qualities. However, it is a style of player that they already have with Vinícius, Mbappé and Rodrygo in the team. The only thing that could change their minds would be the departure of one of the stars.
For now, no Real Madrid player is considering leaving next season. They're very happy and excited about the project and want to keep winning many titles in the coming seasons. However, in a few months, things could change.
Anything can happen
In the world of soccer, surprises always happen. You can never say no to Real Madrid, and Nico knows that very well. But no contact has yet been made between the white club and the Athletic player; they're just rumors without much foundation.
Being one of the best players in LaLiga, Real Madrid will continue to follow his evolution over the coming seasons. If Vinícius or Rodrygo were to leave, they would indeed consider the possibility of incorporating him into the project. But both keep saying they want to be at the club for many years.
